Best Practices for Naming Items

Why Item Names Matter

Clear naming helps you quickly identify items when searching or scrolling through your vault.

Recommended Naming Guidelines

  • Use specific, descriptive labels (e.g., “Amex Business Card”, “Home ISP Login”).
  • Include context such as “Work”, “Personal”, or client names.
  • Avoid generic names like “Password” or “Account Login”.

Organizing Saved Items

Using Folders

You can assign a folder when creating or editing any item.

  • Use folders for broad categories (e.g., “Work”, “Personal”, “Clients”).
  • For detailed organization, combine folders with Tags.

Using Tags

Tags provide flexible cross‑category grouping and are ideal when an item belongs to multiple contexts (e.g., “#ClientA”, “Finance”, “Travel”).
See the Tags article for more details.

Finding Items You Have Saved

Search

Use the search bar at the top of the app to instantly locate saved items.

  • Search by item name
  • Search by tag
  • Search by URL for website logins
  • Search by keyword inside secure notes

Filters

Use built‑in filters such as Passwords, Notes, Wallet, and more to narrow results quickly.

Saving Items Securely

Encryption

All items you save in Password Boss are encrypted using strong, industry‑standard encryption and can only be decrypted with your Master Password.

Multi‑Device Access

Your saved items sync across all your devices, allowing secure access wherever you work.

Tips for Efficient Item Management

Use Colors

Assigning color labels helps you visually identify high‑priority or frequently used items.

Keep Items Updated

Review your items periodically to update passwords, replace expired cards, or remove outdated data.

Combine Features

Use folders, tags, color labels, and search together for the most efficient experience.
